Your Career
Our professional lives tend to consume a great deal of our time. In the United States, people often work forty hours or more weekly. As a result, it is important to be a good steward over your professional life and see it from a proper perspective.
Although God provides for you and your family through a job, remember that God is your provider and not the job. So don’t neglect the Father and remember that He is the only Being upon whom you can fully rely.
Now the reminder to give God priority is not meant to be taken to the extreme. We can’t miss work on a regular basis and use church activities as an excuse. Rather, it is a reminder to continually make time for God and his
purposes amidst a life significantly impacted by work.
Also, one’s job may or may not be directly linked to an area of ministry in which God would have you serve. However, Christians are called to be representatives of God at all times and should exhibit biblical morals and
values at work. We should not do anything on the job that would bring shame to the Body of Christ.
It is a blessing to have a job. However, we should not let our desires to succeed professionally lead us to dishonesty, cruelty, engagement in indecent conversation, or anything else that would be outside of God’s
will.
God is our provider and the Being who gives us the ability to obtain wealth.
