The Importance of Salvation
Our days upon the earth are limited. Even if we live to age 100, this is but a brief moment in time when compared against eternity. We determine whether we will spend an eternity in heaven or hell based upon our belief in God and obedience to His commandments.
Therefore, the most important decision we make in life is whether or not to live for God. The below outline details the importance of making this decision and how we carry it out.
Why do we need Salvation?
The Bible states that we all have sinned. Sin separates us from God. God assigns a place in hell for all who practice sin but the righteous spend eternity with Him.
(Supporting scriptures Romans 3:23,Romans 8:1,Matthew25:46)
How do we obtain salvation?
We believe with our hearts that Jesus is Lord and confess this belief with our mouths.
Rom 10:9
Will we be saved through confession alone?
The Bible tells us that faith without action is meaningless. Even demons believe and tremble at the name of Jesus. We must honor God through obedience to His Word.
James 2:14-26
But I’m not perfect, I can’t obey all those commandments.
No one is perfect. If we admit to our sins, and make a sincere effort to not repeat them, God will help us obey his commandments.
We can make the mistake of thinking we’ll get right and then give our lives to God. This is a trick of the enemy because he knows that we can’t stop sinning on our own. We must first come to God and God will help us lead lives pleasing unto Him.
I John 1:9,10;
How do I start?
Walk through the ABC’s of salvation:
Admit – Admit sin exists in your life, ask God to help you overcome it and make a
personal effort not to repeat it
Believe – Believe that Jesus Christ is Lord, that He is the Son of God who paid the
penalty for your sins through His death and that He rose again and now
lives
Confess – Confess this belief with your mouth (life and death is in the power of the
tongue)
If you believe in your heart and confess with your mouth, you are saved!
Rom 10:9; I John 1:9,10
How do I continue?
Stay connected to God through ways mentioned in the Bible:
(Ephesians 6:18; I Thessalonians 5:17; Hebrews 10:24,25;Collosians 3:16; 2 Timothy 2:15; Matthew 4:4;Hebrews 12:1; Psalm 1)

Stay connected to God through ways mentioned in the Bible:
- Pray daily
- Attend church regularly
- Read the Bible regularly (perhaps start with 10 verses a day, then 25, then a chapter, and so on – I suggest starting with the Book of John)
- Avoid people and places that will lead to sin
(Ephesians 6:18; I Thessalonians 5:17; Hebrews 10:24,25;Collosians 3:16; 2 Timothy 2:15; Matthew 4:4;Hebrews 12:1; Psalm 1)
