Dating

There are few things as special in life as finding the person with whom you desire to spend the rest of your life, but there is a right way to go about connecting with this special someone.

It is good to begin this journey by first praying and asking God to help you find a mate that He would be pleased for you to marry.

Avoid engaging in pre-marital sex, heavy petting, or other immoral behavior.

Seek godly counsel from counselors, parents, and church leaders.

Avoid engagement to anyone who is not a Christian. The Bible tells us to avoid being unequally tied to
unbelievers.

Dating customs may vary depending on cultural backgrounds.  Regardless, dating is not a dress rehearsal for marriage.  Certain habits such as couple vacations, purchasing a house, living together, and sexual intimacy are activities that should be reserved for marriage.

Dating is a time where individuals get to know one another better to determine compatibility for marriage.

Until the covenant of marriage is entered, individuals should live holy lifestyles suitable for Christian singles.

I Corinthians 6:12-20 (*18 - Run from sexual sin! No other sin so clearly affects the body as this one does. For sexual immorality is a sin against your own body.)

2 Corinthians 6:14 - Don't team up with those who are unbelievers. How can righteousness be a partner with wickedness? How can light live with darkness?

Songs of Songs 8:4 - Promise me, O women of Jerusalem, not to awaken love until the time is right.

I Corinthians 15:33 - .... bad company corrupts good character.
