Dealing with Independence
College is a period of life where most students experience a level of freedom and independence greater than previously granted. A degree of freedom is necessary as you are preparing for the responsibility of adulthood.
This new found freedom should be used wisely.
It should not be used to skip out on class on a regular basis, not do homework, engage in sexual exploration or neglect church attendance. These abuses have huge repercussions.
Rather, this liberty could be used to get involved with student organizations, explore new hobbies, pursue internships, make good friends, and other activities that will benefit your future.
On a positive note, students might use this new liberty to stay up late on occasion chatting and bonding with friends or for other similar activities. Just don’t use this newly gained freedom as a license for immoral or irresponsible behavior. While these immoral activities may seem fun for a moment, they are often regretted later in life.
