Alcohol on College Campuses
Lots of alcohol consumption takes place on or around college campuses. For those in the United
States under 21 years of age, it is not only unwise, it is illegal. Now for those over the age of 21, my advice is to be wise.
The Bible does not necessarily discourage drinking alcohol, but it does tell us that getting drunk is a sin.
The Bible also warns us that alcohol consumption can lead to unwanted behavior. Rape, fighting,
and uncontrolled partying are often associated with college aged drinking.
One should avoid consuming excessive amounts of alcohol and perhaps avoid consumption all together outside of the company of those you trust. Never sit a drink down in the presence of unfamiliar company and return
to drink it later.
And of course, drinking and driving can lead to serious injury
or loss of life.
The most certain way to avoid problems associated with alcohol
consumption is to avoid it entirely. You can still have fun and be part of the “in crowd” without engaging in
even casual drinking.
Real friends accept you whether you drink alcohol or not. Those who choose not to drink, even if
left out of certain social circles, often times are respected for their
decisions.
